Search tips / Ural part numbers
You can look up part numbers on Ural's parts catalog. When searching the part numbers here, you'll get the best results searching for just the five-digit portion of the part number, as explained below.
A typical Ural part number looks like this:
IMZ-8.1037-01163-02
IMZ-8 They all start with IMZ-8. IMZ is the original factory designation, and 8 means "heavy motorcycle".
1037 The next section is the model, e.g. 1040 for current Urals, 1037 for carbureted ones, etc. This is just the Ural model that first used the part in question, so lots of 1037 parts work on 1040 bikes. The old 650cc Urals sold in America were the IMZ-8.103.
01163 The next section is always five digits, with the first two digits being the parts group. 01 for engine, 03 for clutch, 04 for gearbox, and so on. The next three digits are the part number within that group.
At the end of the part number is the variation. If it's blank, imagine it as -00. A -01 through -09 means the new part is compatible with the original -00.
If it ends in -10, that means it's not compatible with -00. But -11 and -12 are compatible with -10.
Old part numbers are a bit shorter but basically the same strategy. For example the clutch springs are 72-03115-02. We think the 72 means 1972, while 03115 means clutch group (03) part 115, and the -02 means it's the second revision to the part.
Other tricks: Searching for 8.103 without quotes will give you all the IMZ-8.1037-xxxxx parts, along with IMZ-8.103-xxxxx parts. But searching for "8.103" with the quotes will find only the IMZ-8.103-xxxxx parts. Meanwhile "103" by itself will find nothing, because Shopify treats the "." the same as a letter (but it treats "-" the same as a space). There is no wildcard character, sorry.
