Final drive 2WD output seal installation tool
Final drive 2WD output seal installation tool
SKU:
If you're rebuilding or just resealing your 2WD final drive, you might notice the large oil seal on the right side is installed such that it's flush with the bottom of a chamfer, rather than being installed flush to a flat surface or to full depth. (Actually we think it's flush to a little milled-out flat area, but with hand tools it would be very difficult to use that one flat spot for the target depth.)
Anyway we noticed that, so we sketched up a tool idea and threw it to our friends at Schimmel Engineering, who turned the idea into a new driver tool to speed up the task while doing it accurately. (Because it's a huge bummer to do the job wrong and then damage one of these big expensive oil seals.)
If you've got a 3D printer or a lathe, you could maybe make your own without any major difficulty. (It's not as simple as the rear main seal driver, which is for the same oil seal but drives it from the opposite side of the seal.)
Color may vary, and it's entirely possible you'll get one with some smears of other colors mixed in.
