Wedge bolt

Wedge bolt to hold the drive shaft to the final drive input gear. A regular bolt will not work here! Or rather, it will technically keep things from flying apart, but it's entirely wrong for the application.

Remove this bolt by removing the nut and washer, then use a punch and a hammer to knock the wedge bolt out -- you'll be striking against the threaded end, from which you just removed the nut. The bolt is reusable, just be careful to remove it without damaging it.

Installation is a tricky thing, because you'll think there are eight different ways to insert it, or maybe just four if you were paying attention, but really there's only one correct orientation. Marking the rounded end of the bolt is probably smart -- before you remove it. Take a look at MyUral.com, section 7.7(k).
